Amblyseius andersoni

$440.00

TARGET PEST: spider mites, broad mites and russet mites

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Amblyseius andersoni Tech Sheet (PDF)

  • A. andersoni is a predatory mite that can be used to control a range of mite pests. Their polyphagous nature allows them to feed on many arthropods, including spider mites, broad mites, as well as pollen in the absence of an adequate pest food source. An adult is beige and less than 1 mm long. Young larvae have 6 legs; while the next 2 nymph stages have 8 legs (like an adult).
  • A. andersoni remain active under a wide temperature range (43-104ºF ) making them suitable for early season introductions as well as very hot conditions. They are used in wide variety of crops including vegetables, ornamentals, fruit crops, and cannabis.
  • Development from an egg to adult takes 8-11 days at 68-77°F (20-25°C) and adults will live about 3 weeks. Adult female Andersoni lay single eggs onto leaf hairs, which hatch after 2-3 days as larvae. As days become shorter and temperature decreases in the fall, the mites will enter diapause to survive winter conditions.
  • 0.2-0.3 mites per sq ft

125 ct. sachets: 1 sachet per 5-7 sq ft

250 ct. sachets: 1 sachet per 10-14 sq ft, 1 sachet per 6-13 ft row, 1 sachet per tree, 2-3 mites per 9-12 sq ft

  • Sachets: Make sure the crop and floor are dry when applying to avoid moisture entering the sachet packaging. Do not hang adjacent to heating pipes or where exposed to direct sunlight. Mites emerge for 3-6 weeks.

Loose on vermiculite: Do not expose to direct sunlight or allow to overheat at any time. Immediately before opening, gently rotate the container to distribute mites evenly throughout the carrier material. Continue rotating during application, keeping material mixed.

  • Use within 18 hours of receipt. Keep out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate. For loose material, keep horizontal until use. Transport and store at 50-59° F and at >65% humidity.
