Phytoseiulus persimilis - Spider Mite Eliminator

$80.75

Phytoseiulus persimilis - Spider Mite Specialist

Phytoseiulus persimilis is a tropical predatory mite that preys on the two-spotted spider mite(Tetranychus urticae). It was one of the first greenhouse biological control agents commercially available. Both adult and immature forms move rapidly over leaves and stems, feeding on two-spotted mite eggs, nymphs, and adults.

Optimum temperatures for this aggressive predatory mite are 68-81°F. They reproduce more rapidly than spider mites making them a very effective biological control. P. persimilis is sold in a granular carrier, usually vermiculite, and is safe for plants, people and pets.

Application Rates

1-3+ per square foot of canopy.

BioPersi+ Speed Sachet: Recommended for hotspot treatment. Fast release 100+ mites/sachet for up to 5 days.

BioPersi+ Classic Sachet: Recommended for preventive use.  Slow release 300+ mites/sachet for up to 12 days.

Release Instructions

  • Gently rotate the bottle or vial to distribute the mites evenly.
  • Open in the crop area and gently tap contents onto the foliage of infested plants.
  • Most effective when applied at the first sign of a two-spotted mite infestation.
  • Because of its high reproduction rate, P. persimilis usually exhausts its food supply and eventually dies out, therefore repeated introductions are recommended until all sites with spider mite infestations have P. persimilis present.
  • Do not cold store mites for more than 8 hours.
  • Shipped fresh, quality guaranteed.
