Description

Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is a natural enemy of mealybugs (Citrus Mealybug and Long-tailed Mealybug), also feeding on soft scale (Black Scale and Cottony Cushion Scale) and aphids. They are used in interior plantscapes, in greenhouses and on outdoor crops.

Adult beetles are 1/16th inches long with dark brown bodies and orange heads and tails. Larvae are alligator shaped, up to 1/2" long and covered with white waxy hairs that resemble mealybugs. 

Please Note: If using in a home environment please be aware that this insect prefers high humidity and needs a consistent food source to survive. Also, any pesticide reside on plants can negatively affect Cryptolaemus. Survival is not guaranteed in this situation.

Application Rates

Release 0.5 - 1 beetle per square foot until established

Instructions for Use

• If possible release at sundown on day of receipt
• Lightly mist plants prior to release
  
• As you walk through the target area, allow the insects to escape from the open container as you gently tap them onto leaves
• Avoid wearing light colored or bright clothing during release as they are attracted to it and will end up on you instead of the plants
• Cryptolaemus adults can fly and will cover large areas in search of food
