Rhyzobius lophanthae (also known as Lindorus) are small oval lady beetles 2mm long that eat scale insects. The adults have dark reddish-brown wing covers and reddish-brown head, legs and thorax. The larvae are gray on top with a light colored longitudinal stripe, pale underneath and covered with numerous short hairs. Larvae are 3.5mm long when mature. The oval black or dark gray pupae are distinctly segmented and the size of adults. Optimal conditions are 68 to 86 and rH over 60%, but they can feed outside of this range. Can be used along with Aphytis melinus.

Rates are 2-10/10ft ² or 10-40 adults/tree. Effective in orchards, landscapes, Christmas tree farms, greenhouses and interiors.
- Open the container and gently shake the insects onto the plants in the infested area. Release as soon as possible upon receipt and in the evening if possible. Do not store in the refrigerator. Rhyzobius are difficult to scout. Look for scale that have been partially eaten or with ragged holes chewed in them. Wash honeydew off plants before releasing and control ants as they can interfere with Rhyzobius predation.
