Boogie Blue Filters are designed to scrub chemicals from your water, such as chlorine, ammonia, pesticides, and VOC, (volatile organic compounds).. You will also experience some reduction in the heavier elements (heavy metals), but will not see a reduction in PPM's (dissolved solids), such as calcium, magnesium, potassium etc. If you are seeking to reduce PPM's or PH, you should consider a Reverse Osmosis system. PPM's are not harmful to soil life, and the microbes in Boogie Brew will work to soften the impact of PPM's.

The Boogie Blue Plus filter is bacteriostatic due to its KDF filtration material.
KDF BACTERIOSTATIC MEDIA By virtue of its technology it inhibits the growth of bacteria.

What are the technical specs on any filters within the cartridge – the size of mesh or carbon in the filters? 20/50 activated carbon / 20/50 catalytic carbon. not dual membrane, but dual media. Boogie Blue Plus also contains 11oz KDF (copper matrix).

BOOGIE BLUE WATER FILTER INFORMATION

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Do not allow filter to dry-out. Allow sufficient humidity to maintain the carbon block’s structural porosity.
2. Flush filter thoroughly prior to initial usage.
3. Retain attachment to hose system or keep closed on both ends when not in use.
4. Flush hose thoroughly before attaching filter.
5. Occasionally backflush filter to aid lifespan. (Use a double-female hose adapter available at hardware stores)
6. Do NOT overtighten filter onto spigot. Be sure the hose seal (rubber gasket) is placed properly inside of the filter’s female threads.
7. Do NOT allow your filter to FREEZE! (Thermal expansion will crack the housing)

Service Life:
Boogie Blue Basic model ~10K gallons
Boogie Blue Plus model ~45K gallons
Flow Rate: 5GPM (with typical 25psi household pressure)
Temperature Range: 40–100-degree Fahrenheit.
Pressure Range: 20-125psi

Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection. To reduce the risk of property damage due to water leakage, this filter should be installed in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and instructions. This filter unit must be replaced at the rated capacity, or sooner if reduced flow occurs. Protect from freezing in wintry conditions (this can cause the housing to crack from ice expansion).

Options for maintaining an adequately moist membrane (during long term storage situations such as over-winter): Soak in a bucket with approx 2 gallons of water (enough to submerge filter). Such a full-wet situation requires adding approximately 20 drops (10 drops per gallon) of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE),& / or Colloidal Silver (perhaps 5 to 10 drops BOTH GSE and CS for maximum long term water storage).
You can also elect to 'pre-soak' filter with such a solution, then tightly seal its end caps with hose-end caps / ball valves etc: Subsequently, store moistoned / GSE-sanitized filter in a 'sealed' fashion. (vs 'wet-bath' full soak which requires a dedicated reservoir container such as a bucket).
As long as it isn't allowed to sit 'open' (without hoses or hose-end caps installed) in a hot and dry climate, then the carbon membrane's structural porosity will remain intact, (the filters are actually quite hard to fully dry out -  requires particularly hot and arid environments where it's open to elements).

Lastly, you may also want to purchase some quick-connect hose adapters and place them at either end of the Boogie Blue filter for your particular install.  This will allow you to remove and re-install the filter from your system with much greater ease in the future, allowing for occasional back-flushes, etc.
