Mealybug are destructive plant pests and are challenging to control due to their white waxy protective coating and their tendency to hide out in inaccessible areas. Trapping the male mealybugs is just one strategy to reduce the population.
Mealybug lures contain chemical pheromones that attract male mealybugs. Males are tiny winged insects that resemble gnats, with two white tail filaments. Using specific pheromones, lures can be used to monitor and attract these pests.
Hang one trap per host plant spaced 65 ft. apart, near infested plants.
Citrus Mealybug Lure - To attract Planococcus citri. Use with red paper or plastic delta traps. Replace every 30 days.
Longtailed Mealybug Lure - To attract Pseudococcus longispinus. Use with scale card, red paper or plastic delta traps. Replace every 90 days.
