Per-Cal Mix combines the quick knockdown effect of Phytoseiulus persimilius with the longer staying power of Amblyseius californicus for greater spider mite control. Read more about Intraguild Predation.
Rate: one blister will cover approximately 250 sq. ft. or loose release .05 to 2 mites/ sq. ft.
Phytoseiulus persimilis is a tropical predatory mite that moves rapidly and feeds on two-spotted mite eggs, nymphs, and adults. This aggressive, tropical predator needs fairly warm conditions to survive. Optimum conditions are 68-81°F, the predators reproduce faster than spider mites.
Amblyseius californicus is a very versatile predatory mite, tolerating a wider range of temperatures and lower humidity than P. persimilis. Californicus are well adapted to high temperatures up to 90°F as long as relative humidity is over 65%. It does best in warm, humid conditions, but will also tolerate low humidity (40% – 80% RH at 50°-105°F). These beneficial mites feed on pollen and spider mites and survive well even when pest populations are low if there is a pollen source. They can move easily through spider mite webbing.
Blister packs are easy to use and designed for crops that can't contain any residue from broadcasting the product onto foliage. The advantages are:
Product is clearly visible, allowing growers to see quality and emergence.
Protects pupae, creating more robust predators.
Blister packs increase emergence rates by up to 30%.
Produces a cleaner crop because no carrier material is applied directly to the crop.
Organic pest control, safe for plants, people and pets.
